Three positive things, day five

Tags:

Today was a rather relaxed day, though we still got up to some fun.

The first really positive thing was going blueberry picking at Monadnock Berries in Troy, NH. It's a pick-your-own fruit farm where they specialize in blueberries, but also have raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries, multiple types of currants, etc. We've gone there almost every year since moving back to NH and we've always come away with just a whole load of exceedingly tasty fruit. We had organized to meet up with my wife's best friend and her son, (who were mentioned in my third 3PT post) so that added a little more to it.

The second really positive thing happened while we were picking blueberries. My wife was at the other end of a plant row than I was and she heard this familiar voice that she hadn't heard in several years. She looked around to see where it was coming from and spotted an old friend (& boss) she used to know, and work for, back when she was in college - over fifteen years ago! While they had briefly bumped into each other a few years ago, this was the first time we got to chat with her at any length. Furthermore, her husband was wandering around picking berries too, so he (finally) got to meet our children. And we're going to invite them over once I get back from visiting NYC.

The third positive thing was.. yes.. kittens. Tonight before dinner we let them wander around (much of) the upstairs, and we left them wandering for well over an hour. While we kept Kian busy with dinner, reading and Kipper, the rest of us kept an eye on them as they explored and frolicked. The duo also got to interact with Kodiak, our 80+ lbs black lab, and Bolt, our patriarchal "upstairs" cat, and they all got on just fine with lots of playing and submissive gestures (in cats, in dogs).

More tomorrow!
