Marvel 2019 prediction

(contains spoilers for Avengers Infinity War and )
So, I've been thinking about this year's Marvel movies - Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home..

Something I've noticed is that Kevin Feige specifically said that the two new movies would shake up the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years to come.. not just Endgame.

None of the people they've shown in the Spider-Man trailers were people we know survived the snap, and in fact there were several we knew did not inc Nick Fury and Spider-Man himself.

What if Spider-Man is set in a parallel universe where life continued on as normal after Infinity War? They don't know this calamity happened, but Fury's fury-sense is tingling and he wants Spider-Man to help him work out what's going on. Where if at the end they all come back to the original universe only to discover that they were missing for [amount of time] and there's a huge outcry against the Avengers for letting it happen, leading to the original Avengers leaving for good, maybe with Captain Marvel.

I guess we'll find out in a few weeks when Endgame comes out.

Am posting this to Common Sense Media too.

This historical retelling of a very important time in the Civil Rights movement is exceptional in every way - story, acting, pacing, etc.

There are a few portions that parents may wish to be aware of (spoiler warning, but it's historical so that's to be expected):

  • Within the first few moments a group of young girls are killed in an explosion.
  • The "n" word is used extensively, most often as a slur; other negative language is occasionally used.
  • There are a few scenes were people are badly beaten, one during a daytime march, the others at night; one person is shot during one of the confrontations.
  • During one scene MLK's wife Coretta confronts him about his infidelity and plays a recording of what is presumed to be him with another woman, with Coretta explaining that she knows what he sounds like.

This is a very important movie, for historical purposes, and is highly recommended for parents wishing to show their children what people of the time went through.

Three positive things, day twenty eight

Another busy Tuesday, made more interesting by the fact that I had some colorful sinus problems. And by "colorful" I meant "green-ish, brown-ish ugh".

The first positive thing was working with "live, via satellite" with people in two different countries via conference call / screensharing. It was quite an interesting time.

The second positive thing was .. ahem.. forgetting that I had not muted my line and .. blowing my nose..... sinus problems, remember? ;-) Anyway, both times were during lulls in the conversation, so everyone just laughed, wondered what the heck the crazy noise was, and blew it off. Also, puns.

The third positive thing was watching Ponyo with the family after dinner. Kian hadn't seen it before but he was absolutely fascinated by it, and sat & watched the whole thing - he kept cheering "there he is" when he'd see Ponyo or Sōsuke :) While I prefer "My Neighbor Totoro", Ponyo is definitely a wonderful movie.

So, Saturday happened.

The first positive thing was watching the movie It Follows. It was surprisingly creepy and very well done for such a low budget movie. Definitely recommended, if you're into scary movies.

The second positive thing was discovering there's a huge Lego installation at a "children's" museum in Manchester - the rest of the gang went exploring and found it, so we'll have to go back again soon so I can see it too.

The third positive thing was having a good time at a local park, and bumping into a local family we've started to get to know a bit.

Movies I'm looking forward to this year

There are a number of big budget scifi flicks coming out this year, so it should be a good one:
